TO IDLE OR NOT

The car is a 1998 Continental with a 4.6 and approxiamately 80000 miles. It has been well cared for and does short term drives to and from work, 7 miles one way. The problem hit suddenly. The car will not idle properly. When warm it idles at 400 rpm or dies. It runs ok at high rpm. I have to brake while under throttle to keep it running. The check engine light IS NOT ON. The bulb is good. I am suspecting the IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE. However there are so many sensors I have to inquire.

IAC is a good place to start! But first check for vacuum leaks! Use a can of spray gumout, spray vac lines and intake manifold area, if idle changes, you found a leak. Pay close attention to PCV area!
