I don't have any dashboard lights running lights, the brake lights horn does not work, windows don't roll down, door locks don't work, and the turn signal don't work. I replaced the alternator, the battery, the turn signal switch light bulbs. When I go to start the car, I have to jump it because something drains the battery. Once I take the cable off of the car the car immediately shuts off like it's not getting fuel. I checked all the fuses and relays they were good. I just can't figure it out.

Hi,

The idea that the engine stalls as soon as you remove the battery cables leads me to think there is something with either the "new" battery or alternator. If the battery is connected and the engine is running, the alternator should keep it running.

I was taught a long time ago that whenever there is an electrical issue, always start at the battery. So, that is what I'm going to recommend. What I would like for you to do is disconnect the battery, fully charge it, and then have it load-tested.

If the battery passes and is good, I want you to check for a draw. To do that, you will need a voltmeter or multimeter. The positive battery terminal will be left disconnected and the neg will be connected. Then, place the positive side of the voltmeter test lead on the battery cable and the ground connector to the battery positive terminal and let me know how much voltage is shown on the meter.

If the battery is instantly discharged, that is a concern so be careful. Also, check to see if the battery terminals get hot.

Let me know what you find or if you have questions first.

Take care,

Joe
