Yesterday I was at a turn and switched on my left signals. They were working normal but then suddenly stopped working. No clicking sound, no indicator on the dash as well.

Few things I checked:

1) Bulbs are fine, the indicator lights come on when I lock/unlock the car
2) All the fuses are fine.
3) Hazard switch only glows the right side signals front and back but the entire left side is not working.
4) Right side lights works like they should.

After doing my own research, I think the flasher relay could be bad but not sure at all. If someone thinks that relay is bad then please for everyone's knowledge explain the difference between a turn switch fault vs flasher relay fault vs blown fuse.

Thank you

Hello,

It sounds like the flasher has gone out which is common. To be sure here are the blinker wiring diagrams and the flasher location below and a guide to help check for power to see where you loose it:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-use-a-test-light-circuit-tester

This guide can help as well

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/turn-signals-not-working-blinker

Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

Hello Ken,

Thanks for digging out the wiring diagram for me.

I just used the method of elimination and found that the flasher relay was indeed bad and replaced it and now the signals work fine.
Here's how I worked it out with few points that I noticed:
1) If the fuse blows then the power to both sides will be interrupted but in my case right side was working fine.
2) If it was the turn switch then the hazard lights button should have both sides flash but in my case it only made the right side light come on.
3) If the bulb blows then the light should flash faster but in my case it didn't work at all.

So, flasher relay was my prime suspect.

My hazard lights still work though. I can't find a fuse for the turn signals. But I have replaced the relay, both the turn signal switch and the combination switch.

Hello,

By relay do you mean the turn signal flasher? Because that is what controls the blinkers. Here is a turn signal wiring diagram so you can see how the system works and the flasher location as well. Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

Do you have power at fuse #7 and 21?

Here is a guide and the fuse locations:

Then is looks like the MICU is the problem which is built into the fuse panel. Here is the location. Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what happens.

Hi,

This part is built into the under dash fuse panel. Unfortunately, this may be a dealer only option or a salvage yard. I checked a few of the major parts sites and they don't offer it. The reason is, it is not a common part so they won't sell a lot of them which means they won't make much money off them.

Sorry to not have a better answer for you.

I replaced the MICU, but now the left blinker won’t stop blinking and the right side still isn’t blinking.

Okay. I am just trying to get caught up with your issue since Ken is out this week. Before you put the MICU in neither blinker worked but the flashers did? Then you put this in and now the left blinker continues to blink and the right does nothing?

Okay. Where did you get the part from? Was it new or a used part? Basically, we are making progress so I am going to assume that MICU is defective. Clearly there could be other issues like a loose connection but whatever it is, you touched the problem when you replaced that part. When nothing works, you replace one part, and it changes but may not fix the issue, then you are dancing around it.

Unless you didn't get a connector in or have a loose wire in a connector, the MICU you got has a different issue then the one you took out.

Okay, then we can assume it is not the part at this point but that doesn't change the fact that when this part was changed the issue changed so that means we are on the right path.

Before we condemn the part we need to check terminal tension of the terminals and make sure none of the wires pull out the back of the connectors.

Here is a video of someone showing how to test the tension on a terminal. Clearly the application is different and the type of terminal is not the same but the only thing you need to follow is the process he is using by getting another male terminal and making sure there is tension when putting it in the female connector. In you application, if you find any that have little or no tension then you will need to replace the terminal/harness because it is very difficult to tighten these terminals. It can be done but if not done correctly you will damage them and they will no longer fit.

If they all check out, then I would replace that part again. They should warranty it or in some cases, they can bench test it for you free of charge. It depends on the facility that you got it from but that will determine if the part is the issue or a connection on the vehicle.

(Coupe model) When headlights on blinker does not work. When headlights off blinker works until I press on the brakes and when I press the brakes the low beams turn on in place of the blinker. Hazard lights as well stop working when I press the brakes or have my headlights on.

Hello,

It sounds to me like you have got some wires that shorting together, probably coming from the driver's side under dash fuse box. I have included a diagram of the fuse box and wiring diagrams in the diagrams below. Please check it out and get back to us with what you find out.

Thanks,
Alex
