Kia Cranks But Won't Start
Thanks :!:
if i remove the pos. battery cable for at least ten actual minutes and put it back the car will start. has happened 3 times so far.
Suggested Repair
Listen for the fuel pump to hum with the key in run. If it does not start, check the fuel pump relay and fuse; tapping or replacing the relay fixed similar Kia Sportages. A brief intake spray test that makes it start points to fuel delivery. If fuel is present, have the crankshaft position sensor diagnosed with proper tools.
Conversation Summary
The owner of a Kia that cranks but will not start had already replaced the fuel filter and asked whether the fuel pump was at fault. The expert advised listening for pump prime, using a brief intake spray test to check fuel delivery, and considering a failed crankshaft position sensor if fuel is present, with professional diagnosis if needed. Owners of 1996 and 2000 Sportages reported similar no-starts; one found that tapping and then replacing the fuel pump relay restored starting.
