I've been having a squeaking noise from my car for quite a while, but it seems to have gotten more constant lately. I took the car to the dealer and found out that the "passenger rear caliper has seized."

That's not an issue since it's covered under my extended warranty. However, when they replace this, they have to also replace the brake, in fact both brakes in the rear. When all is said and done, it will set me back almost $500.

I'm only planning on having the car for another 10 or 11 months. If I don't get this work done, am I putting myself in danger? Or will I simply have to put up with the squeaking?

It needs to be repaired. It could place you in danger after some time. However, if the warranty is paying for the caliper, why are they charging you so much for brake pads? Hell, you could buy them for around 20 bucks at most parts stores. Are they charging you 480 for not even an hour's labor? If that is the case, have them replace the part under warranty, purchase a set of brake pads at the local parts store, let me know, and I'll send you a video "how to" for replacing them. It's not hard to do.

Let me know, and don't let them take advantage of you.
