Here is a list of things that could cause this problem, sorry there is so much but without actually being there, I cannot pinpoint the problem. It could be a sensor and although they may not set of your check engine light or register on the mechanics computer, it may be an intermittent problem with a sensor such as your throttle position, crank position, map, and idle air control valve sensors. It could also be you catalytic converter getting plugged, it could be your 02 sensor, it could be you ecu bolts shorting out your system, it could be your fuel pump getting weak, or it could be your governor pressure regulator located in your transmission. Make sure to have a really good mechanic eliminate any of these problem areas. Hope this helps! I had the same problem and it was my governor pressure regulator and it cost about $250 to replace at my local shop in Michigan.
