1988 jeep cherokee 230,000 miles. I have full power in the baterry, but when I turn the key nothing happens, no clicking or anything. Coul it be the starter, or ignition? I checked all the wiring and it seems fine

CHECK BATTERY GROUND AND OR LOOSE BATTERY TEMINALS. ALSO, DO YOUR INTERIOR LIGHTS TURN ON WHEN YOU OPEN YOUR DOORS AND WILL THE RADIO PLAY WITH KEY IN ACCESORY POSITION. IF NOT YOU HAVE A BAD GROUND. IF YOU DO HAVE A FULLY CHARGED BATTERY, THE LIGHTS WORK AND NO CLICK WHEN THE KEY IS TURNED, CHECK THE STARTER RELAY IN THE RELAY BOX IF SO EQUIPPED. OTHERWISE IT COULD BE THE STARTER SOLENOID THAT IS ATTACHED TO THE STARTER, BUT PROBABLY NOT THE STARTER.

With the mileage you have and the age of the car I strongly believe it is the starter. It is best to replace starter and solenoid together. Sometimes you can give the starter a whack with a hammer and it might start cranking. If it does then you know for sure it is the culprit.
