Hi - I really need advice! I have a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 5.2 with an automatic trans. Recently I had it towed (tow driver removed driveshaft to tow). I had some bottom end repairs done and the oil pan was also removed and reinstalled.

Okay - Now my car runs great but won't go into drive. Park works properly. So does reverse and Neutral. Will not do anything in Drive or Second - But will go in REVERSE again in First Gear.

PARK = PARK
REVERSE = REVERSE
NEUTRAL = NEUTRAL
DRIVE = DOES NOTHING! Doesn't seem to kick in
SECOND = DOES NOTHING! Doesn't seem to kick in
FIRST = REVERSE AGAIN!

Does not make any difference if I push overdrive button or put the 4WD All the time in 2WD.

Need to get kids to school - Up to my neck in grease at midnight.

PLEASE HELP GUYS!
Thanks :wink:

Check the shift linkages at the trans. Is it a 4x4?

Thanks for replying! What I meant to say was the Jeep is a 4x4 with Quadratrak - I guess that means 4 wheel all the time? When I put it in 4 LO - it makes no difference.

Only one piece was removed by tow driver.

I am in over my head. I'm not pretending to be a mechanic - I respect that you guys are the masters!I'm just really tight for money and don't have a choice but to try to fix myself. I live in a rural area and really need to find out if this is fixable - or junkable.

Thank you very much-
Respectfully,
Michelle

If they removed the oil pan, unless they pulled the engine the front diff has to come out. What exactly did they fix in the bottom end. You might need to take it back to them, Im sure it didnt do this before, correct? Still think they got something messed up at the shifting linkage/cable. Everything is fixable, sometimes its easy and sometimes it is difficult
