Hi, the electric fan will not stop running once it has been switched on at the temperature that it should come on at. Once the temperature gets down to the point at which it should swith off, it remains running until I turn the ignition off and then back on. Have any ideas as to what might be causing the problem.

I have replaced the relay not that long ago, that doesnt mean that it couldnt be bad, I will replace it again. Let me ask you this, is the coil in the relay for the fan switched through ground or though power. I ask because I noticed that my headlights will not turn off unless the key is in the on position. If I turn the key off first and then turn off the lights through the switch in the car, then the lights will remain on untill the key is turned to the on position at which point they will turn off provided the headlight switch is in the off position. That leads me to belive the coil is switched through ground. Are the lights and the fan on the same circut somewhere? Could I have a bad ground? Or maybe I just got lucky and I have two bad relays? Thanks for your help.

Could be faulty PCM and/or fan motor also but i always start with the cheapest and easiest component on the circuit. the relay is that component so should start with it. circuit diagram is below of your vehicle's cooling fan ..

I do not know much about your vehicle--I was able to find the location of the cooling fan relay---I plugged in "SE" Cherokee since that info was not in your info. It is the top left in the diagram for a 4.0 liter engine. This relay may be STUCK, a good "THUMP" might verify needing to replace it if it does stop running (if you make it "Unstick"). Still researching your heater switch. Anybody else want to jump in. Go for it.I just want to get them figured out fast. The Medic

I'm back, Could not find a diagram I could stick in here. However the heater blower motor resistor (which would regulate fan speed) is located on the Evaporator Housing--under the passenger side of your dash. If you are lost finding this stuff. A popular parts store "Seasoned" employee could probably find this stuff for you and best of all. FOR FREE!---I really hope this helps--Just remember I'm a Jeep CJ kinda guy and not real familiar with your rig! Please Return with a Smile, and let us know if you are good to go!--The Medic
