Will an engine not start and run if the ignition coil is tracked?

Its hard to say. See my profile. During WWII many B-17 Bombers RETURNED to their field with so much damage from FLAK and ENEMY FIGHTER AIRCRAFT, that EXPERTS say they were INCAPABLE of FLIGHT. THEY DID FLY, ALL THE WAY BACK. ASK a pilot that made it back under these HORRIFFIC conditions if he would TAKE HER UP AGAIN. HELL NO!

Moral of this story is : IT MAY OR MAY NOT CRANK. IF YOUR COIL IS CRACKED (assuming intended word was not "tracked"). WHO WOULD CONTINUE TO TRUST IT. REPLACE IT FOR NOT-GETTING-STRANDED SAKE ANYWAY. This may fix you up. If not continue search. We are here for you.

Love, Turddog
