I have a 2000 grand cherokee with 79,000 miles. It's a 6cyl, AWD model. I just purchased the car and the previous owner just had a rebuilt transmission put in a month ago. I just hit a deer last night with minimal fron end damage, but now the car only starts in neutral, not when it's in park. Any ideas? Is it my starter or does it have something to do with a sensor in my trans?

If its starting in neutral for you then the starter is ok
check if it in park all the way
check shifter cable and adjust
check neutral safety switch on the tranny
good luck
