2000 Jeep Cherokee V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

my jeep won't stay running. Cleaned battery posts jumped battery but when I turned it off it won't restart. Acts like it wants to start but won't full turn over. There is no clicking noise but does try to turn over. HELP please

O.K. - When you jump start it, it turns over with no problem? By itself, barely turns? If your battery is the kind that has removeable cell covers, check the cells (6) to be sure all cells are topped off with distilled water - a dead cell will kill the battery. What is the battery voltage without the vehicle running? About 12.8VDC? How old is the battery? May have to replace it. Require more data. "Make it so, Mr. Worf.".
