My 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee has a small black hose coming out of the coolant resevoir - the hose is about 12 inches long and goes nowhere. My initial thought is that it is an overflow hose.
I never noticed it before, but I did have the oil changed recently & am wondering if this hose is supposed to go somewhere but maybe it was accidentally disconnected by one of the Jiffy Lubers.

There is a "pin" coming from the engine block near the hose that looks like it could be the perfect "plug" for this hose, but that doesn't make too much sense to me - why have a hose if it goes noewhere? check the hose that comes out of the radiator by the radiator cap. follow it to the tank, Make sure it is connected to the tank, It could be a overflow hose but my guess is that it is the one that goes to the radiator
