Sounds like the ignition wire between the ignition switch and the coil or starter is grounding some where.

UPDATE:

Well, I had fixed the grounding problem by replacing the negative wire and ground connections. The truck ran for about 3 days, then started giving me problems again. Checked the ignition system, can't find anything wrong. I don't drive the truck for another 2-3 weeks, and put the ignition coil back on. Bang! It starts right up. Works fine for about 5 days, then decides Thursday morning not to want to start again. Same deal, engine is turning, starter is engaged, no spark. I'm leaning towards a fuel delivery problem, as the truck has sat for long periods of time in between working, and I ahve not put. Let's say the greatest gas in there (discount fuel is a good friend in times of financial duress). Will see if it's a fuel problem and update you folks.

UPDATE:

SUCCESS! I went through my Haynes Repair Manual, followed the instructions for relieving fuel pressure. Opened the gas cap, waited a few moments, then took out the fuel pump relay, started it, then it died (as the book stated that it would), then inserted the relay and it started right up. Any thoughts as to whether or not this is indeed a fuel pump problem?

okay- go find the fuel pump module connector- there be a dark grn and white wire is the power input to pump and plain black as ground-

get urself 2 wires that can reach the pump from the battery about the same thickness with wire connector-hook it up makes sure the pump is working before you fire it up-

Now observe and comeback with results.

Here's what's involved

The computer energizes the ASD relay at the same time the fuel pump relay comes in play-when the ASD relay energizes it powers the coil/pump thru the F/P relay.

Also u have a cam/crank sensors the deals with injection/ignition.

Have you checked the ignition switch and wires? High heat at the neg terminal means the cicuit has too much resistance. Have you checked for 12v at the coil?

The other thing to check is if the truck has factory anti theft system. It may need to be checked.
