Allright, I am ready to get rid of this car, prob is I just put a windshield in, not losing that money. Problem: Over the past month or so I would be driving my jeep and come to a stop and it would stall, no shaking or anything, would just shut off. It happened 2 times while on the road, I would throw it in neutral and it would start up and I would go. This week it stalled at 3 lights, each time harder to start. Now, I went in it last night, and its wont start at all. It cranks a solid crank but thats about all I get. Before I get slammed at a mechanic, what do you think. I have a scanner and no codes are showing, check engine light was off while all this stalling occurred. Engine is I6 4.0 H.O. Please help.

Spray some carb cleaner or starting fluid in to the throttle body with the trhottle plate open and then crank it. Did it run for a moment?

I sprayed the carb cleaner in the throttle body and nothing on crank, did it again and nothing, added a decent amount and in between pulled the coil wire off and placed it right back on and it cranked and started. I let it run for 20min with no prob, put it in gear with no stalling. I did not drive it cause I am afraid to break down. Any ideas or should I see what happens?

Pull that coil wire back off and look carefully for any corrosion. It may have been that simple. Better than the fuel pump. Hopefully it wasn't irony that it started after the coil wire thing. Original wires? Might be time. At least it appears to be a loss of spark that it is narrowed down to. If problems persist you have an area to focus on.

Start with short test drives and see what happens.
