1991 Jeep Cherokee 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I recently got a Jeep Cherokee Laredo from my brother's friend. He said that the engine was knocking and it was probably going to throw a rod. When I went out and cranked it all I heard was a ticking. It wasn't even loud. I am 15, it is my first car, and I know I don't know much about cars but I don't think its going to blow or that it is going to throw a rod. So, what is it?

I would believe the friend. Have you driven put engine under load etc.? But you got some time to pull it out rebuild have your brother help. It could be fun and think of all the things you will learn.
