It will not start by key in ignition, but does if bypass the started and block intake with a cloth filled with fuel. It then takes for a one minute but cuts out as fuel not coming through. Took it for a diagnostics test and all clear by them. Could it be starter relay or petrol pump relay? But could it also be the immobilizer/anti-hijack system? Thank you.

Hi Belto,

You can eliminate the possibility of it being the immobilizer system because if that is the cause, you would not be able to start when you bypassed the starter.

Were you able to crank while trying to start?

Cause of the problem seems to be due to lack of fuel and this is where you should be checking foir faults.
Fuel pump relay, ignition switch, fuel pump are all possible causes.

I do know that there are some cases for the persona whereby the engine control module went haywire and the only thing you need to do is to disconnect the battery and wait a few minutes. After reconnecting the battery, problem went away just that you don't know when it would come back again.

Next time if this occurs, try disconnecting the battery to test.
