DIRECT IGNITION SYSTEM (DIS)
Rodeo & Trooper (3.2L)
Direct ignition system consists of a coil pack, ignition module, crankshaft position sensor and ECM. Coil pack consists of 3 interchangeable ignition coils. Ignition module controls primary circuit to coils and spark timing if engine speed is less than 538 RPM or if ECM by-pass circuit becomes open or grounded.
Crankshaft position sensor magnetic pick-up provides a signal to ECM to identify correct firing sequence and crank signals to trigger each coil at proper time. ECM controls timing using crankshaft position, engine RPM, engine temperature and manifold absolute pressure.

To intelligently diagnose this problem, you'll need a good wiring schematic and flow chart. Do you have signal voltage from the ecm? Do you have signal voltage to the ign. Module? Ground? Sorry I don't have specific info available--my mitchell manuals are still in the mail. You can get a month subscription to all data or mitchell on demand for about 20$ which will give schematics, flow charts and sensor values and tests so you are not just replacing parts. Good luck
