Out of the blue after turning my car off and parking for 20 minutes, my car would not start. It was trying to start, but just didn't turnover. I sprayed the spark fluid into the air filter area, and still no start. I kept trying and still no start. After sitting for a few days I jump the battery, turned the key and the car started. I put fuel line antifreeze in the tank as a precaution. Let it run for about an hour with no problems. I turned the car off and it wouldn't start again. Same type of close to starting sounds, but no start. Again, after a couple of days, I tried to start it and it did start. I let it run for about 5 hours believing that I had bad gas. Ran with no problems, I stepped on the gas pedal and it turned off. I tried to restart, and got the same problem all over again. I changed the gas filter as suggested by a friend, but still, same almost starting noises, but no start. When I do get it started and let it run, as soon as I step on the gas pedal it shuts off. Can someone PLEASE help me address this problem. The closest shop to me ALWAYS writes me up an estimate for $1000 or more even if all I need is air in the tires. So, I would like to get an idea of what the problem could be. PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME!

Thanks much!

Hello

It definitely seems as though you have a fuel system issue since it is stalling out when you give it fuel. You need to check the fuel pressure with a mechanical fuel pressure gauge. If it is low, the fuel pump could be weak and not pumping the proper amount of fuel through the system. It may, however, also be weak spark plugs. If the spark plugs are getting more fuel than they can burn, it will stall the engine. Test the spark plugs to ensure they are all receiving a blue, healthy spark.

Hello hmac300 thank you for your response. Before having the distributor and crankshaft position sensor replaced I had the codes scanned and it gave the code for the crankshaft position sensor. And I dont know how to check the fuel pressure. The mechanic I had working on my car said that it is not anything with the fuel but I dont really know I have been gtting the run around for a month now

Check the fuses and relay in pic use a like relay to check your current one. Other than that this really needs to be looked at by a pro to fix it. You can also try wiggling where your cranks sensor wires are to see if it's abadconnection it may start. If it does you know to replace the wire connection. But try the fuses and relay first. One other thing try resetting your anti theft, which I don't know how to do but if you have a manual it should tell you. Also if you have another key try that that also works sometimes.

Ok thank you I am going to have it towed to a auto repair shop today because nothing seems to work, and yes I heard that it could be the key or the security system which I have tried to reset but it is not working nd I do not have another key cuz my mechanic friend told me that may be it as well but before I have another key made I am going to have it looked at by a pro at auto repair shop. But thank you for your feedback I really appreciate it

I've talked to another mechanic cardiodoc. Turn the key and it clicks. I removed starter and had it checked she said it was fine and cleaned terminals and replaced the corroded smaller wires connected to positive cable. They were very neglected. I recently purchased this qx4 as well
