I had a squealing noise coming from my serpentine belt every time I used the a/c. A/C works fine, but to know avail the belt went. I was told awhile back that I had a bad tensioner. So things are a little $$$, so I decided to fix it myself. I replaced the tensioner and the belt started the and the squeal got louder. IT sounded like the alternator. So what do you think I did, Yes, I bought an alternator. I replaced the tensioner, belt and alternator and the squeal not only still but its louder and the pulley on the alternator gets very hot very quickly. How do I get rid of this noise or did i do something wrong besides miss diag my car. Thank you very much ( from a non mechanic) I,m actually a former F&I MGR.

Did you happen to check the AC pulley? My guess is that the AC clutch is going out. Do this. Have someone turn the key on (don't start) and turn off the AC. Stand on the passenger side looking at the AC pulley, tell the assistant to turn on the engine. See if the AC pulley is running. The pulley should be running freely. Now, have the assistant turn on the AC. Now the clutch should be running.
