My car was running fine till late last night. This morning when I started the car, thick white smoke from the exhaust came. It also had the smell of gasoline.

White smoke from the exhaust typically means the head gasket is blown. Painful DIY repair. I just did mine, took 6 days. Lots of stuff to remove, and 10% of the bolts you need to remove arent in the repair manual.
