Ignition Problems after the Recall Repairs

I got my ignition switch/cylinder/etc replaced as part of all the GM recalls a little over a month ago. A couple of weeks ago I started having trouble with my keys getting locked in the ignition (when trying to turn off it only turns to accessory and I have to manually release the key using a plunger inside the steering column). I find the timing odd - and I think it has something to do with the fact that they were rooting around in there not too long ago. I called them and they state there's basically zero chance it's anything they did - and that if I took it elsewhere they wouldn't be able to reimburse me if it was there fault. Are they right? Is this just a really odd coincidence? Or could they have done something while they were making all those repairs?

Thanks!

Interesting. They told you there was zero chance they caused a problem, but refused to reimburse you if it was repaired at another shop and it was their fault. Do you see the confusion here?

Did they provide you with a new key? The items to be replaced included the ignition switch, lock cylinder and keys and should be replaced at the same time. And yes, something could have happened to cause this problem. You may even have a bad lock cylinder or key.
