For the life of me I can't find the dipstick to check the transmission fluid on my 1994 Hyundai Excel. If anyone can help: I have a 1994 Hyundai Excel with an automatic transmission(not sure of the engine size but it's not real big). I suspect there is a problem with the transmission as the car is making a ticking sound that increases or decreases in frequency as I drive. The sound is not present when I put the tranny in neutral and rev the engine. I may need to add fluid but I can't find where I'm supposed to check or add it. The car lurches when it is under a load (like going uphill) and I floor it or turn off the overdrive to get some torque. I recently (two weeks ago) had the car serviced. One of the items on the service list was to drain and replace the tranny fluid. I noticed a the problem yesteday. I pulled of the road and looked under the hood. It looked like there was a small puddle of oil (brownish) on top of the housing of the torque converter. Anyway, the car has 98,000 miles on it. If anyone can help or tell me what the remedy is for that loud ticking sound, I'd appreciate it.
