Hello, when you try to start it all it does is crank. Sometimes when you let go of the key it will continue to try to start. I don't want to put a lot of money into it just want to get it so it starts to sell it. It is getting fuel and all fuses and relays are good and tested. I have put way too much money into this car already.

Hi,

First, take a look through this link. It explains the most common causes of a crank no start condition.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/car-cranks-but-wont-start

If nothing there helps, we need to check a couple things. First, you mentioned that it is getting fuel. Have you checked to make sure the pressure is within the manufacturer's specs? Follow this link to check:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-fuel-system-pressure-and-regulator

Next, if you find it has proper fuel pressure, have you checked to see if there is spark to the plugs? Follow this link to check:

The easiest thing to do is see if it starts for a couple seconds with starting fluid. If it does and then stalls, there is a fuel related issue. If it doesn't even try to start, the problem likely related to the ignition system (spark to plugs).

Other than spark and fuel, we will have to check timing, and engine compression. However, I suspect it is an ignition issue since you already checked for fuel. It's not uncommon for the ignition coil or crank sensor to fail.

Let me know what you find.

Well, after doing some more on it I found that the fuse for injectors 1 and 3 was blown. Replaced it and it blew again. So I unhooked all the injectors because I was unsure which was 1 and 3 and the fuse blew again. So I am at a loss now.

Does it blow regardless if the key is on or off? Let me know that. Also, I attached a picture below showing what I believe to be the fuse you are referring to. That fuse powers all injectors. A ground is provide via the power-train control module (PCM). Now, if you look at the picture, note that I circled a splice in the wires. If there is a short, that is the first thing I would check.

If it wasn't that fuse, please let me know which one is causing the issues.

Take care,
Joe

Yes, it is fuse 9 and according to the lid for the fuse block it says 1 and 3 and says fuse 8 is 2 and 4. I blew when I tried to start it. I did not just turn the key on and see if it blew. I will try that tomorrow after I buy more 15A fuses.

If it blows when you turn the key on, there has to be a short between the fuse and the injectors.

Let me know.

It does blow when you turn the key on. Could it be a bad relay causing it to blow?

Replace the coil unit. It must be shorted. Fuse 9 powers it as well. See the attached pic. Actually, before replacing it, confirm the connector isn't damaged. Also, see if you can get one from a salvage yard that is tested good to save money.

Let me know.

It is my ignition coil. My question is, what would cause it to do this to the coil? (See picture) it just started out of nowhere which is weird I have inspected all the wires and they all look good.

Hi,

That's the problem. Something internally must have shorted and overheated. Have you been able to find one?
