My car is making this horrific noise! It sounds like something is stuck in the fans and it sounds like metal on metal. I thought it might have been a bad tensioner pulley checked it and it had a lot of play in it, so replaced that, wasn't it. Noticed the motor mount on passenger side was shot to heck, replaced that, it did help the noise a little, but didn't resolve it completely. Friend said it sounded like a power steering pump, checked it and it had bubbles, so good there, maybe the bearings in the pulley, bought the pulley today, started to take it apart at work, but figured I'd better get home to my son and his father first. On my way home I started to lose power, luckily made it home, shut off the car and checked the belt, it was still on. Ate dinner and went back out to look at it and the vehicle wouldn't start, rather than punching my car I went for walk came back and tried to start it again, it started and still horrific noise. Please help, I know it's an Acura, but momma can't afford to change everything.

Hi,

This could be a few things. First, remove the serpentine belt and spin all belt-driven accessories to see if you hear anything or feel play in them. While the battery is off, start the engine and see if the noise is gone. Only allow it to run like this for a couple of seconds, just long enough to determine if the sound is gone,

Next, if it is possible, record it and upload it for me to hear. If it is happening when the engine is running and the vehicle is stopped, it is likely one of the belt-driven accessories. However, that needs confirmed first.

Take care and let me know what you find.

Joe
