My timing belt went out in my car and I bent 6 valves and we replaced the valves and put a new water pump in it. Then we changed the seals in the head along with the front main seal. Then we adjusted the rockers. And its still knocking, what could be my problem now?

Hi thespidermonkey001,

What type of noise are you getting and where is it coming from?

Are the valves adjusted correctly?
Is the timing belt tension correct?
Did you check the pistons for damage?
Is the timing belt installed correctly?
Are the cam carrier bolts torqued correctly?

Yes the valves r addjusted and the timing belt is on right and the pistons looked fine I put a new water pump in it when I did all this work. The noise is coming from inside the valve cover. Every thing was done by the book. I greased where the contact points r on the cams. Does the weight of the oil I put in it have anything to do with it? Or how would the tightness of the timing belt have to do with it?

The viscousity of oil does play a part but not very much in terms of abnormal noises.

The cam carrier bolt torques and valve clearance would be the most likely.

Did you reacheck/redjust the valve clearances after running in the engine?

If timing belt has too much slack, the valves would tend to rattle for a short period after initial startup.
