Front brakes squeel during normal operation. Noise quites down as brakes are applied. From what I hear I should replace the front brake pads. What materials or special tools do I need to do the job myself?

The job is simple enough with a couple of metric wrenches, jack, jack stand, replacement pads, usually a large c-clamp to compress, and good eyes to see how it came apart and to look at the items you are taking apart for wear. However, the best tool in your tool box is a $20 repair manual. It will walk you through the process, be there for the next repair job and beyond. A good investment.
