I have a 2000 Honda Civic EX. When i start it up and accelerate it makes a ticking noise. It usually goes away after it has warmed up, but i was just wondering what would be causing that, and if it needs to be taken care of right away?
Thank- you for your time.

Hi there,

You may have a sticky hydraulic lash adjuster, if so its no big deal, sometimes ther will tick if the oil gets very dirty, carbon builds up and can cause the adjusters to not bleed out, so try adding a good quality engine flush, and then change the oil and filter. If the tick is still there, the lash adjuster may be faulty or the noisewill have to be invistageted further.
