The car runs, but I would only start it up to take a short drive around the neighborhood about once a week to keep the car running as my father told me to. I had to leave for a month on business. When I came back I started up the car, but the pully on the alternator wouldn't turn and just made the belt squeel and smoke until it popped off. So I've decided that it's time to replace the alternator, and purchased the alternator I needed online.

Now my problem is removing the old alternator. I got the 2 bolts off and disconnected the wires, but I can't seem to shimmy it out of there. will I need to take out the whole engine, or is there something I can remove to get enough clearance? I've included an image:

Nevermind. I managed to squeeze it over the oil filter and through a hole to the passenger side of the car, and out through the top rather than the bottom.
