I drive a 2001 manual Honda Civic with 170k miles. Recently, the check engine light came on. It has done this in the past, but has always reset itself after 3-4 drives. However, this time it's been on all week. I had an auto store run diagnostics on it, and the result was a code the man had never seen. It said, "vacuum in tank cannot pull." He had no idea what that referred to, but thought maybe it had something to do with the fuel filter. Today the light reset itself after I stalled out at a light and had to restart the car. Should I dismiss it now that the light has turned off, or is it something that I should be concerned about still?

Oh no! I forgot to get the numerical code, and they've just told me that they can't tell it to me by the error msg. I've got to take it back in and have them run the diagnostic test again. As soon as I get that #, I'll let you know. Should have it tomorrow. Thank you!

Hi LaceyH,

You can get a free scan done at Autozone to retrieve the trouble codes. Most major parts stores provide the services as well, but check to ensure it is free as some are known to charge for it.

Hi KHLow2008,
Went back to advance auto. We were able to get the same error msg up. The diagnostic code is P145. Is that all you need? I've been trying to look it up online myself, but anything you could tell me would be much appreciated!
