Hi~ I have a 2001 Honda Civic with 86000 miles on it. The check engine light initially started coming on, and then it would go off. When the check engine light would come on, the car would not accelerate, and I would have to drive extremely slow. The next day, the car would drive fine, and the check engine light would go off. The check engine light now stays on, but I can drive at normal speed, where as before I was accelerating very slowly. I took it in, and was advised to get a tune up. The check engine light went off, and after a day or so came back on. I have been researching through information posted here. It sounds like my o2 sensors need to be replaced, am I on the right track? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Hi there,

before fitting any parts just to see it it fixes it, get a code read done, I would have the codes cleared and re drive the car for a few days, if the check light stays off, check for any minor fault code set and if light come on, we have a problem to investigate.

I have seen the crankshaft angle sensor go out and cause this problem, here is how to change it out incase you need it or if you get any kind of ignition codes. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.
