The problem started back in late winter when the engine started running rough and I had a check engine light on and it said that the o2 sensor was suspect. I replaced the o2 sensor and the light went out, but car continued to run rough. It ran for a few more days and then one day it just died. I sat for a number of months and I went out and it started up, but only ran for few minutes and died again and has not run since. I have spark, fuel is getting to plugs cause they keep getting wet when I try to start. I can hear the injectors firing when I place a screwdriver up to ear. It will only make an attempt if I hold the pedal to the floor and will act like it is going to start, but never does. I have replaced fuel filter, plugs, and it has a fairly new distributor. Any ideas!

Check to make sure your mechanical timing is set properly, as well as ignition timing.

If the spark plugs are wet, that means the engine is flooded from either

a)over-fueling
b)improper timing
c)weak spark

Is it possible that bad gas would not allow it to start? I have had water in the gas in the past on other vehicles, but usually just ran rough.

Am I missing something here? I found the cam and crank tiimng was right on the marks when at TDC, but the distributor was 180 degrees out.
