I've had my car for about 18 months and it's given me next to no problems. I had a faulty oil pan gasket which was successfully replaced 2 days ago. Now this morning, which had a temperature of about 10 degrees F, I had my car running for 5 minutes or so for warmth and then drove it half a mile, then running uphill pulling out of a stop sign, first gear wouldn't engage, nor any of them. There are no fluid leaks and the clutch pedal still has pressure. I tried again after the temperature warmed up and it showed the same symptoms. It's a 1991 Honda Civic LX with Manual Transmission.

Hi Joe,

Get someone to depress the clutch while yo chak if the clutch fork at transmission end moves.

Are you able to engage the gears with engine OFF?

If yes, with handbrakes applied and brakes depressed, engage 2nd and try starting. Becareful as vehicle might move forward, ensure front of vehicle is clear of obstructions.

If vehicle jerks, the clutch is bad, could be due to the damper srpings dislodging.
