Bad alternator

Hello,
It's been a while since my last post. I have a 1989 Accord DX 2.0 ltr 4cyl. Autotrans. The alternator is bad. My repair manual says I have to remove the drive axel to remove the bad alt. Is this true? Or are they leading me the long way?

Thanks in Advance

Its gonna take you till X-mas if you follow those YoYo's-Go fine it and use your 6 senses. If you're getting paid working on your own car, you can remove the 1/2 shaft to increase the labor charges-disregard the book's 12 steps-use your imagination.

BTW what's wrong with the Alty-did you confirm all your tests to prove its dead.

The dummy light (battery) is on, and I checked the voltage output with digital meter while engine running and got low output. It might just be the voltage regulator is bad and I'm assuming it's an internal one. Is this correct??

Triple check all the connections at battery and behind the Alty-I don't think it has an external IVR-if you wish you can go inside and pull a CSI on it-could be a solder problem or whatever.
