Have no brake lights at all. The fuse blows instantly l, as soon as I put it in the fuse box. Have changed the brake light switch. Checked bulbs done all obvious tests.

A simple trick to finding a short is to replace the blown fuse with a pair of spade terminals, then use small jumper wires to connect them to a 12 volt light bulb. A brake light bulb works well. When the circuit is live and the short is present, the bulb will be full brightness and hot so be sure it's not laying on the carpet or against a plastic door panel. Now you can unplug electrical connectors and move things around to see what makes the short go away. When it does, the bulb will get dim or go out.

I recently bought a 1991 honda accord. The passenger side brake light didnt work, so I replaced the bulb. And it still doesnt work. Could it be the wiring? How do I fix this?

Hi tatarie,

If the bulb socket is rusty, it would not provide good conductivity and the spring might be stuck resulting in the bulb not seating properly.

Is the bulb used correct? Double filament type.

The right and left are connected in parallel, so it should be the wiring at the taillights only.
