The TCS light came on in my car about a month ago. Is it imperative that I fix this asap? Sounds like an expensive repair and I can't afford it but I dont want to put myself in danger either.

Thanks.

Hi lomyj,

The TCS does not affect safety under normal driving conditions.

If the Check engine light is indicating as well, the TCS could be triggerred by an engine fault.

Get a free scan done at Autozone and let me know the EXACT trouble code if any found.

Thanks for your response. The check engine light is not on and autozone said that is the only light they can check. Do you have a recommended timeline for when I should get this TCS fixed?

Thanks again.

It is ok to drive the vehicle with the TCS light on if yu do not feel any difference in power or other issues.

Guess you would have to get it to the dealer.

However you can try using a jumper wire across the DLC terminal # 4 and # 9 and turn ignition ON to check if the TCS lights blinks. If yes, count the blinks to get the trouble code.

Hi there,

You will have to get a scan done to identify which fault code is set in the ECU, do this first.

Thanks, I left my code reader at the other house so I thought maybe this was a normal issue.

Much thanks

I recently changed my honda stock headlights to halo projector headlights and 20 minutes after I installed them and went for a test drive my cars check engine light and tcs light came on and the car would not accelerate? It was also high reving. So I parked it, left it alone for the night. This morning I turned it on and the engine light was still on but the car seemed to run fine.I turned the headlights on again 20 minutes after they were on the same thing happened. Check engine light, tcs light, high reving, and car would not accelerate.

I have come across similar problems in the Accords 1996-2007. I think Honda dropped the ball on these cars during this time. Investigate further. I have a 1996 Accord and having a similar issue. When I depress the gas pedal it does not go into gear instead it just revs and I have to back off before redline. Pull the code with an OBD II diagnostic tool (Auto Zone or Advanced for free) and see what it is. Don't buy a part yet.

I have a 2003 honda accord v6 couple and the tcs indicator light and the exclamation point sometimes comes on and doesnt turn off until I restart the car. Is this something major wrong with the car or can I just ignore it and the car should be fine? It runs great and I dont seem to have a problem with the actual car its just those lights.

This is telling you that you have a DTC (Diagnostic trouble code) stored in your traction control module.

The vehicle will run fine, your TCS just won't work.

Hi john,

If the brake fluid level is low, it would occur.

There are other possibilities such as a fault in the ABS system.

The is for your traction control system its telling you the system is not working and that you have an error. It is probably a sensor fault. Here is a way to test each sensor so you don't need a scanner to fix the problem.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/abs-wheel-speed-sensor-test

Here is a video to show you how to check for codes

https://youtu.be/rTtAnsOlZU4

This will give you the wheel speed sensor that has failed.

Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what you find.

Cheers, Ken

Recently both my brake and tcs light have come on. They pop on as soon as the car comes on. I took it to a machanic and he thought maybe the tcs light was on due to bad tires but I have four brand new tires so that cant be the problem. They just came on out of nowhere and nobody seems to know why

You are going to have to get a scanner capable of reading the TCS system. Most likely what you will find is you have a fault somewhere in your TCS system, you must retrieve the DTC to begin a diagnostic.

Hi arnie trujillo,

When the TCS light is showing, it means an error has been detected and you need to retrieve the trouble codes to understand what is wrong.

Autozone provides free scanning services, get it done ans let me know if there are any trouble codes for the engine which can cause the TCS light to show.
