Hi chrisbobb,

Getting the part should not be a problem.

I couldn't find any specific replacement instructions in the manual, I did however find how to adjust them. This will show how they attach to the shifter and how to adjust once replaced

See the diagrams below

Hi corinthea13,

You need to remove the central console box.

Remove the locking pin connecting the cable to the gear shift.

At lower end of vehicle, remove the front exhaust heat shield to get access to the cable mountiing poit to body. Remove 2 pcs of 10mm hex bolt.

At trans side, remove cable holding clamp and dust cover.

Remove 10mm hex bolt after unlocking tab.

Remove cable and proceed with replacement.

DO NOT bend end of cable, if not shifting from Park to Reverse would be very stiff.

Before installing of locking at gearshift, ensure locking holes are in alignment, failing which gearshift would be out of position.

Hi dannyboy63,

Did this happen prior to replacing the cable?
Was the cable adjusted correctly.
If vehicle is not at complete stop, a grinding noise would be emitted when shifted into park.

The problem seems to be from the trans rather than the cable.

When stationary, the parking pawls should be at a stop. If it is turning, it would cause rachetting noise when trying to engage. This is usually caused by a faulty 1 way clutch/parking gear.

Gear assy is located at end of trans and if you are able to remove the cover, you can check if the lock nuts ( item # 7 and 17 ) are loose, which often happens, and retighten to rectify.
