I need help if I can fix myself my electrical problem. I tried to have my car started my using a jumper from my other vehicle. Unfortunately, due to carelessness, I switched positive to negative. I can smell electric wire burning inside my car. How severe is the damage is what I want to know or if I could fix it myself? No power at all on the car even with new batteries. Not even a blinking light. Need help pls.

Hi there,

You will have to check all the fuses and fusible links in the system, (best you have a work shop manual to guide you) If there has been smoke from under the dash, things could be a problem, as the loom is made up of a number of wires bundled together, when they over heat to the point that smoke is present, the plastic insulation can melt and fuse the wires together, causing any amount of problems, The ECU will be most vulnerable, I do highly suggest that you get an auto electrician to inspect the damage and advise on that to be done.
