My key was left on 1st axuiliary and the battery went dead. I had roadside service come out and they jumped my car. The next day I noticed that my car was running on cold, it never moves after the car warms up. Also the car wont go past 2000 rpm, if I attempt to go up towards 3000 rpm's the car buckles as if its going to cut off. Also I was having difficulity starting the car and now it wont start at all.

Hi dani716,

Thank you for the donation.

Is it the battery is weak and you are not able to crank or you are able to crank but it is not firing up?

When the engine was running after the jumpstart, did any of the dash indicators illuminated?

Is anything not working correctly?

At first I thought it could be the battery but after a few tries the car does completely start and is even drivable as long as I don't go past 2000rpm's.

I don't recall if the dash indicators came on after the jumpstart but I forgot to mention that my check engine light was on before the battery went dead and is still on. But the problems of the car hesitating to start, not being able to go pass 2000 rpm, and car running cold after just happend after the dead battery.

A friend tried to put one of those hand machines on the wire inside the car to see why the engine light was on but the machine said that its an error. Would that mean that maybe a sensor is broken and would that affect other parts of the car.

The CEL indicating means an error has been detected and some hand scanners might not be compatible with the system.

Autozone provides free scanning services. Let them do it and let me know the exact trouble code.
