1990 Honda Accord

Engine starts but dies after 30 or 40 secs. I can drive it but it seems to lack power at acceleration. Once acceleration catches it drives fine.I come to a stop and once I accelerate it lacks power

1. Was anything done prior to this occurring?
2. Has anything been done to try to rectify the problem?
3. Apart from those described, is there anything in particular that you think might be helpful in understanding the problem?
4. Is the Check Engine Light showing?
