1990 Holden Commodore 6 cyl Automatic

Hi,
We have a 1990 VN Holden Commodore, it will not start, we have checked the battery and the alternator, and the starter motor they are all fine. What else could it be?

Hi there,

If the engine is cranking over and not starting have the engine scanned for a faulty crank angle sensor, these are a common problem with these cars, also check that the fuel pump is cycling, you should be able to hear it hum for a few seconds when you turn the ignition on, these are common problems with these cars.

After cleaning my engine I was unable to start again.
Turned out the electric box (used to modify the rich-lean settings) that was installed when the vehicle was converted to gas filled with water, because it was fitted incorrectly it could not drain. This shorted out the ignition modual. I I disconnected the leads to the shorted box and replaced the ignition module and the car started fine. Thinking that the Gas module may have been fine now that it had dried out I reconnected the box only to discover it again fried my new ignition module :(. I am yet to replace the second ignition module but will also replace the lean-rich module as well this time. Good luck and hope this helps. For the record you might wasnt to try ebay for a replacment ignition module, dealers quoeted over 200 dollars but I wa able to pick up a new one for 80 dollars including postage on ebay.
