Engine Hesitation?

Wow, you've thrown a lot of stuff at this thing.

Surging idles can be a nightmare to solve.

A few more things to check out.

If you have a slight vacuum leak, the ECM keeps trying to control the idle with the IAC, but it doesn't respond like it's supposed to, so the ECM keeps adjusting it back and forth.

I know this will sound crazy, but sometimes cleaning where the ground wires attach to the engine helps.

Might check the fuel pressure to see if it is staying steady.

And on rare occasion, even though you should never have to do it, I have adjusted the throttle plate stop screw a little one way or the other and that seemed to help it.

Sometimes there is just no silver bullet for idle problems.

If you unplug the IAC, does the idle stay steady?

Can you do a fuel pressure test and blip the throttle a few times. The pressure should go up just for a second or two when you open the throttle and the vacuum goes down.

What could be some possible causes that my truck to hesitate when trying to accelerate quickly within the first ten minutes or so of driving?

For instance, if I am merging into traffic and have to accelerate quickly, it is almost like it wants to cut off. However, if the truck has been running for a good little bit, I do not have this issue. It also seems to not be as much of an issue if I have time to let it "warm up" before I begin driving. The truck does fine with normal acceleration. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

This has the BI unit on it which they liked to blow the gasket under TBI sometimes computer will mix fuel higher to compensate other times not check that by pulling TBI off. Also, if any vacuum hose is soft replace it especially to MAP sensor on firewall. Check fuel pressure as well but you will need an adapter for that 9-11 psi.

I have 1993 Chevy Silverado with a 5.7 I bought it recently and it had a rough speed up problem. I have changed everything I know of I have changed all plugs wires cap and rotor map sensor tps sensor air filter and checked all vacuums it still does it. If I hold the throttle at about 500 to 700 rpms it stumbles and hesitates smells really rich but it is throwing no problem codes my gas mileage stinks and it just isnt running right. At normal highway speed it runs fine except when I let off it acts like it wants to die but never does.
Please help me im lost on it.

I am having the same problem with my 98 5.7 vortec, but it only does it at 55-60 mph, there was a code for a miss fire, but now the only code is for my catalytic converter. Tried new plugs, cleaned the wires, cap with alcohol pads (helped), was wondering if it is the fuel injectors or if I should change the wires and caps first?
