If we waited a bit it would start back up. Now it won’t even start?

At first it would just shut off and lose power steering while driving, usually if we slowed down or stopped or went over a certain speed. If we waited a bit it would start back up. Now it won’t even start. It has a new battery and crankshaft sensor and we just got a new fuel pump a year ago. It’s been to a mechanic three times and they never actually fixed anything. Help?

Hi,

We need to start with the basics. An engine needs air/compression, fuel, and spark to start so we need to verify all three of those and most likely the vehicle will start. My guess at this point, is you are missing fuel or there is a lack of fuel. That is good that you replaced the pump but we can't assume it is ok so we need to check all operation.

The best place to start is to see if there are any DTC's. This will point us in the best direction. There are a few sensors that could prevent the vehicle from starting but it sounds like you have a fuel issue due to the low power. Possibly an air restriction.

Here is a video that will help get us started. Also there is a lot of info attached that will support what I mentioned above.

Let me know if there are DTCs, then give this info a glance, and we can go from there. Thanks
