Today I was going to school when my truck started to make these noises. I never heard it do that before. Then I notice that I can't go faster than 45mph and my truck starts smoking. I turn off my truck, when I go to start it again it doesn't start, so I call a tow truck and they tow it to a shop where they tell me that I blew a head gasket and that I'll need a new motor. How much do they normally run and why isn't there any evidence of fluids leaking anywhere where I was parked before then? Well and my last question, what happened, what could have caused this to my truck? Sorry I'm a girl and I don't know much about cars or trucks so I'm kinda freaking out a little bit.

Thank you!

Hi. I think you need to tell the shop not to go any further. Talk to your friends and family etc and find a mechanic that you can trust to get a second opinion. It may have a headgasket blown but that doesn't mean the engine needs replacing. It can be fixed. Get that second opinion and decide from there. Let us know how it turns out for you. Good luck!

That's what my dad told me to do also, and I had it towed to another shop where they are fixing my head gasket. The Purcell's that I took it to I found out later, just likes to tell you that bigger things are wrong with your vehicle so that they can get more money. So people bewarned DON'T TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO A PURCELL'S SHOP!
