Its a 2.2 four cylinder. I went to start the truck and it fired right up, but it sounded like a diesel (its gas) or it needed a valve adjustment. I then shut it off and started it again and had a really hard time starting, (I had to put the gas pedal to the floor). I then noticed that it was not registering any oil pressure. The alternator lights on too, but im pretty sure thats an alternator since I already put a battery in it to get it started. My main concern is the oil pressure and the noise. Thanks JP

It sounds like a bad oil pump or plugged pick up screen. THe only way to be sure that you are not getting pressure is to get a manual gauge at the parts store (most will lend or rent them) and unscrew your oil sending unit and screw the manual gauge in. IT will give you an accurate oil pressure reading.

If it has none, shut it down. You will then need to remove the oil pan to check the pick up tube and pump. If you go that far, I would recommend replacing the pump.

I am assuming the oil level is full.

Let me know if you have other questions.

Don't just imediately drop a oil pan. I've personally seen a few bad oil filters completely block oil flow.
Try putting a new one on first.
One of those filters was a Mobil 1 filter. So this isn't something only cheap filters can do.
