I have a 1990 GMC Sierra 4x4 which runs great when it is not raining. It has a little over 300,000 km and carries a 5.7 litre engine. I can crank it and crank it until I kill the battery and If I go out the next day and it is sunny, it will go just like that.
I have had people tell me it is the fuel pump and others the ignition module but I am unsure of what to replace? I have not yet replaced the cap and rotor as I was looking for some HELP first.

Any thoughts?

I am not sure what they are thinking, but the first thing I would look for is a cracked or loose distributor cap, just replace it, they are fairly cheap and do the rotor also, and also look for cracked or loose spark plug wires, if they are old they should be replaced also, I found out the hard way that they only last for so long, then they dont give a good spark, you can also try to dry out the cap with ether or starting fluid, just make sure that if you try this, THE CAP IS DRY, before trying to crank the engine, DUHHHHH, what does starting fluid do with a spark, BOOOM.
