Genarally, if you push up and down on the car and it bounces pretty easy and takes a little bit to stop they are pretty wore out. They should go up and down a couple times then hold there position. If you get a lot of bouncy you are probably due.

I agree. Push down on the bumper. If it bounces more than twice your shocks are probably shot. You will also see some strange tire wear (scalloping) and your car will not handle very well.
