i have a 2002 chevy silverado 1/2 ton pickup with a 4.3 vortec engine. on a few ocassions the low coolant light will come on, but the coolant doesn`t appear to be low.
even though i have detected the odor of coolant, a few times, and once i saw what appeared to be coolant on my garage floor. but that has been some time, and i haven`t seen it since, it was a small amount.
i also might say that the light always goes off, after the engine has been restarted.
thanks
Steve

Your coolant level sensor may be malfunctioning or it just gets stuck every once and awhile. It's located in the coolant reserve tank. My car randomly spews coolant out of the reserve and the low coolant light comes on at times... I've replaced the sensor and it happens less often but it still does it. Probably nothing to worry about, just keep an eye on the coolant level.
