I have a 1995 Geo Metro Ls automatic transmission three cylinder. 120,000 miles or so. Every once in a while the car won't shift over 15 miles an hour the engine reves like I have it on park and I'm pressing the gas and every time I put the car in reverse the motor moves front, I put it in drive it moves back. Is that suppose to happen? I've checked my oil, water. It doesn't get hot. and when it acts up I let go of the gas and the car will start shifting jerking up and back doing it's own thing. I could here the engine. What about sensors? What about bubbles in the oil?
Please help

If the engine is moving around that would indicate the motor mounts need replaced. That might solve some other problems also.
Has the transmission ever been serviced? New fluid and filter might help the shifting issues.

Good luck and let us know. :)
