My a/c compressor has been acting up for a while now. I took it to the local garage, and they told me my tensioner, and idler pulleys needed replaced. (not sure if that would effect operation) Now the compressor seems to kick on for roughly 10 seconds, before shutting off. Is this normal?

You don't have a bad cpmpressor you are low on refrigerant charge. Have the system charged and you will be fine.
